WHAT YOU NEED TO OBTAIN A MARYLAND TITLENEW TAGS, AND VEHICLE REGISTRATION

VEHICLE SAFETY INSPECTIONS

Under MD law, a vehicle must by inspected by an authorized vehicle inspection station in situations where:

  • A vehicle is tagged for operation by a new owner
  • When an individual is establishing a permanent residence in Maryland.

There are very few exceptions to this rule. Maryland Auto & Truck Repair is the area's leading vehicle safety inspection station, delivering more inspections per month than most any other station in Baltimore. Cars, trucks, RVs, and trailers are inspected daily, Monday through Friday, by appointment (while-you-wait), or by convenient drop off service.

We offer many services, a sample that includes:

  • Vehicle registration for new residents of MD and those that have purchased a new or used vehicle in or out of the State
  • Title transfer
  • Tags and stickers
  • “Temp” tags valid for 30-days for those that purchased a vehicle and need time for a MD State Vehicle Safety Inspection
  • Registration renewals for case where there is a need to either renew the registration or obtain a permanent registration after issuance of a Maryland State Vehicle Safety Inspection.

WHAT YOU NEED TO OBTAIN A MD TITLE

NEW TAGS, AND VEHICLE REGISTRATION

  1. A title signed by the seller. Buyers that wish to be shown on the title must be available for signatures on the title and title application.
  2. A Certificate from Maryland Auto & Truck Repair or an authorized MD Vehicle Inspection Station.
  3. Lien holder information or a lien release.
  4. A valid MD Soundex (license) number. If you don’t have one, we’ll get one for you.
  5. An original bill of sale if purchased from a dealer or a notarized bill of sale if purchased from a private party and the vehicle is seven years or newer.
  6. Auto insurance information

WHAT YOU NEED TO OBTAIN A 30 TEMP TAG

After obtaining the tag you have 30 days to obtain the Inspection Certificate. Inspection Certificates may be obtained from Maryland Auto & Truck Repair.

  1. A title signed by the seller. Buyers that wish to be shown on the title must be available for signatures on the title and title application.
  2. Lien holder information or a lien release.
  3. A valid MD Soundex (license) number. If you don’t have one, we’ll get one for you.
  4. An original bill of sale if purchased from a dealer or a notarized bill of sale if purchased from a private party and the vehicle is seven years or newer.
  5. An insurance policy or binder number.
